The Hong Kong Sustainable Development Forum (HKSDF) was founded in
September 1998, and formally registered as a society under the Societies
Ordinance in Hong Kong on 28 February 2001. HKSDF is a non-profit
organisation - an entirely private sector initiative.
Established to respond to the ongoing absence of
consensus, consultation and engagement of all stakeholders for
Sustainable Development HKSDF was the first NGO in Hong Kong to focus
exclusively on Sustainable Development in Hong Kong, leading the field
well before Sustainable Development became a recognised concept in Hong
Kong.
HKSDF is pro-business - Without business, especially SME business, Hong Kong
would not be the vibrate centre of commerce it is today.
Society,
Environment and Development are the three principal tenants of Sustainable
Development.
HKSDF actively encourages, and welcomes, the participation of all the business,
consumer action groups, and the government to build a better, more sustainable future.
It is styled on similar government and non government appointed forums like the United
States Presidents Council on Sustainable Development, the British Government Panel
on Sustainable Development and the Canadian Roundtable.
Our aims are wide ranging, including raising awareness, foster support and participate in
consensus building, provide informed comment and recommendations on government, business
and private sector policies, strategies, institution building and laws on sustainability
in Hong Kong and internationally.
We have a wide range of members, from different sectors and industries,
providing an extraordinary pool of knowledge and experience, with a common interest
to support Sustainable Development in Hong Kong.

Over the years HKSDF has focused, and in some cases, driven SD policy in Hong Kong. If this work is to continue, your support is needed.
Sustainable Development is truly a vast subject area, where no individual alone can master since it covers such a diverse range of subjects, and specialties.
Over the years, HKSDF has provided an invaluable springboard, a resource, and supported the creation of several related organisations, enabling tighter focus on particular sectors.
Yet there is still plenty of work to be done - join us today!
