The Government and other parties often invite stakeholders and interested parties to express their views through consultation exercises and this provides a clearing house for these invitations.

HKSDF believes that open discussion and debate is the key to securing a better future and we endeavour to participate, actively offering views, opinion and solutions regarding issues pertaining to Sustainable Development and sustainability issues.
In addition HKSDF executive committee is proactive, securing meetings with high level Government, quasi-Government officials, corporations and other organisations with the aim to drive Sustainable Development initiatives on to the agenda, challenge the status quo, and actively encouraging adoption of Sustainable Development principles.

The Government under the auspices of the EMSD (Electrical & Mechanical Services Department) solicited views regarding the proposed Life Cycling Costing (LCC) and analysis tools. The LCC tool should be complete Q1 2005.
HKSDF were represented at two workshops to discuss and review the methodology and structure and offered constructive comments to improve the usability.
The Government under the auspices of EPD (Environmental Protection Department) solicited views regarding state of art solid waste handling technologies suitable for Hong Kong waste stream. HKSDF have been attended a discussion forum. Read more about the forum in the December 2004 newsletter.
The Government opened the first Sustainable Development consultation, covering three pilot areas, Renewable Energy, Solid Waste Management and Urban Living Space. The Consultation demanded an entire web page.
The Government solicited opinions regarding the proposal to build a central prison, reclaiming part of Hei Ling Chau Island to accommodate the development. Read HKSDF's Response Here
