The Council for Sustainable Development (CSD) hosted a Workshop at Business Environment Council, on 6th October 2004 covering the second Pilot Area (PA), namely Renewable Energy (RE). This workshop was just one of many taking place this month.
And YES, it was a great event!
Opened with introductions from Dr Edgar Chung (CSD chair) and Otto Poon (SDU RE convenor) indicating the level of importance CSD places on the process.
In total, about 40 people attended. We were divided into small teams with five or six members. Tony Wu the facilitator, posed questions for consideration broadly based on the I&R document. And after some team debate, one team member presented the conclusions. Since all the 'activities' were sub-divided into small five/ten minute segments, it was fast moving.
Participates from a wide range of backgrounds, including, a journalist, students, government, professionals, general public, etc. took part.
The workshop was conducted in Cantonese, with simultaneous translation provided. The link is on the web site, but here is the link for your reference:

In short it was a great event. Did I personally learn anything about RE - No.
However, it was very interesting to hear 'community' views, from both
the young and old alike. Overall,
I would say that approx. 90% were positive and in favour of Renewable
Energy in some shape or form.
