The membership of the HKSDF costs only HK$100 per year.
The HKSDF encourages members to attend meetings in whatever capacity they are most
comfortable. Two categories of membership are available:
1 - Ordinary members who are over 18
years of age, attend meetings, receive all information from the Forum
and vote at meetings; and Observers who are over 18 years of age and
afforded all the rights of ordinary members except the right to vote.
2 - Observers are those members who, for
their own reasons, prefer not to accept full membership.
The Executive Committee of HKSDF may grant Honorary Life Membership
(Honorary Membership) to any member.
Prospective members of the HKSDF are required to apply for
membership in writing using the Membership Form provided, and sent
to the address noted. Members must also required to indicate the category of membership he/she
prefers.

membership a copy of the Constitution is provided on this website.
When applying for membership of HKSDF, applicants will be asked to also confirm that
they have read and agree to be bound and abide by the HKSDF Constitution and all
resolutions of any General Meeting of HKSDF members. The Executive Committee (or its delegate)
considers membership applications. The Executive Committee (or its delegate) will advise the
applicant of the success or otherwise if his/her application. If successful, upon receipt
of notice of approval from the Executive Committee (or its delegate), the applicant will
be a member of HKSDF. The HKSDF does not issue membership cards.
Membership information is not released without the consent of a
member. However, Email addresses of members are evident in communications from
HKSDF. Where at all possible, communication between members is electronic. Regular
circulation of information from the HKSDF is not usually available to members who do not
have a valid email address. Unsolicited use of the HKSDF Mailing List is
strictly prohibited.
Only Ordinary and Honorary Members shall be entitled to become members of the Executive
Committee. The Executive Committee may also, from time to time, invite other members to
join or assist the Executive Committee. The Executive Committee is entitled to fill any
vacancy it may have in its membership between Annual General Meetings of all the HKSDF
members.
Taskforces are, in effect, a delegated body of the HKSDF Executive Committee and
may be comprised of any members of HKSDF. No Taskforce meeting will have been validly held
unless a member of the Executive Committee is present.
All Executive Committee members and Taskforce leaders are members of the HKSDF and serve
without compensation.
The HKSDF is committed to and continually works at ensuring its membership remains
multi-disciplinary comprising individuals with expertise from government, business and the
public (including consumer, green and community groups and NGOs). The HKSDF currently has
over 80 members from all of the major chambers of commerce, industry, business,
environmental and other consultancies, lawyers, green and social groups and government.
Generally membership meetings fall into three categories: Executive Committee (ExCo)
meetings, Taskforce members meetings and other meetings.
The Executive Committee is responsible for the day to day
running of the HKSDF and formally meets about once a month. Only the elected members of
ExCo attend its meetings although other members may be invited to do so or requested to do
so from time to time. Taskforce meetings are held as and when
the Taskforce leader (in consultation with his/her Taskforce members) believes it
appropriate. Generally Taskforce members will attend Taskforce meetings although other
HKSDF members may attend if they wish. All other meetings of
HKSDF are open to all members. Minutes of ExCo and Taskforce meetings are kept and open to
all HKSDF members and the public free of charge.
The HKSDF holds its Annual General Meeting in April, open for
all members.
All meetings of the HKSDF operate, wherever possible, on the principles of consensus
building and members agree to observe these principles as part of their membership. For
